more swaps to show

One more window dressing swap to show you. I used baroque motifs for background and cut out the fruit images and popped them on a dimensional. I watercolored all the images with reinkers.

I am also going to ink gathering dinner on Friday night hosted by the great demo Tina Rosenkrans. So I had to make some additional great swaps for this dinner!

I must say, this is my favorite swap I did.

It uses define your life and heard from the heart (new stamp set from upcoming cattie) and bella dsp. The colors are pirouette pink, riding hood red. I used ticket corner punch, slot punch and boho blossum punch.

Of course I only preordered one package of Bella dsp. So, I came up with alternate sample using kiwi and pirouette pink. For those who went to school in late 70's (I was in Jr. High)- it screamed "preppie" to me.

OMG! I leave for my first convention today!
I will try to post so updates of what I see there...

Anatomy of a swap

As I mentioned before I am doing a few different designs for upcoming convention swap. I wanted to use "window dressing" a level 3 hostess set in upcoming catalog. I had some problems coming up with a swap design I liked.

attempt # 1:

Problem #1- did not have a current snowflake stamp (not retired) to use for background. This one was too plain, I did add some photo corners using some designer paper.

This is my second attempt- decided to use polka dot background stamp, and was somewhat happier with the color scheme.

Tough to see from scan, but I used dazzling diamonds around window edge to give look of snow/ice.

This is my final outcome and I was much happier with it. I used canvas background and the gingham print of new bella rose dsp for my photo corners. I really liked the country look to it.
My other problems were:
1) not having designer paper but using the photo corners helped.
2) trying to find ribbon, tried white grosgrain but went without it in my final design
3) trying to do a layout with a sketch. So much easier in planning a card to have a sketch.
4) working with new in colors, not having a color scheme. Thankfully, I used kraft a good neutral to go with riding hood red.
I have two more swaps to post before I go to convention. Enjoy your weekend :}

Home Decor

Yesterday I went into volunteer at Ronald McDonald House. RMH is SU's charity and demos across the country do great work in helping this great house of support for families going through cancer treatment.

This statement is so true, of how lucky I am to have two healthy children and how blessed I am.

Anyways, my convention roomie Barbara is the house leader. We make a home cooked meal once a month, do a stamping project with the families and leave cards in basket for them to use.

Going to Barbara's house to pick up food, Barbara and other volunteers- I got see all of Barbara's home decor up. I got inspired to put mine up in my own house. If you are interested to can click on link to see home decor catalog on my sidebar.

This is the whole wall. I think I need to order more, this might be addicting!

Swap #1

Here is one of my four swap designs I came up with for convention. I leave next Tuesday, yikes almost done with all of them.
I came up with this after retired list came out, not knowing accessories list- I wanted to come up with something not using designer paper or ribbon. I reach for dsp so often, tough not doing a card with it. I ended up doing a lot more cutting out elements for most of my swaps.
card recipe:
stamps: loads of love, it's a sign, sock monkey
ink: riding hood red, basic black (cocoa, pacific point blue water coloring for cupcake)
cs: black, baja blue, brushed silver, kiwi kiss, whisper white
access: white gel pen, dimensionals

quickie

Quick post, I am suppose to be packing for our family vacation. But had a idea in my head about making tags for our convention bags. I can't believe 17 days I leave for convention. I just started my swaps.
Anyways, I stamped on shrink plastic with craft ink using Baroque motifs and lovely letters. Mine looks a little smudged, but that is where I accidently put my watermark and I did not know how to move it.
I will try to post a quick peek of what I am working on for convention, I plan to watercolor and cut them over my vacation.
I hope to check in what everyone is doing but I will not be posting for a week.

SAS continued

These are the last 3 cards that we did last night. Thanks to all the ladies who attended, we had a great time.
I can not take credit for the designs. In the nature of time, I cased the big pieces design and unfrogettable design off of SCS, I am sorry I don't recall the stamper's names.
The annivesary card was designed by Betsy Hanley a demo in our local group.
They were great cards for a SAS, all finished under 2 hours. Congrats to Michele who did all 10 cards in 1 hour and 15 minutes. She is usually my stamp camp buddy as we are speed stampers!

Stamp a stack sneak peek

Here a few cards I am using for my upcoming stamp a stack of cards featuring stamps on retirement list that is tomorrow 7/8/08.

This one is wild rose, it a two step stamping set. I chose to do the rosebuds, as I thought they were easier to line up.

I try to also use all the current in colors in picking color schemes.

I have one more to show you:

This features the set "all through the year". Both these cards I am going to let the guests pick their own sentiment.
Off to do some more house cleaning to make my house presentable :}

Patriotic sneak peek

My Mother-in-law's birthday is tomorrow!
I got my pre-order of some of the new Fall Winter idea and catalog items.
This shows a few of new in-colors: riding hood red, pink pirouette, pacific point and some of the new designer paper. (it also has some roses and such but thought the gingham plaid was more appropriate for card). Notice the new scallop punch!!!
The stamp is called "heard from the heart" it also has a 3 more sentiments related to wedding, Christmas and kindness.
I cased this card idea from Patty B, love the idea of using rhinestone bling in the jumbo eyelets.
If you are interested I am currently running a embellishment share for $24 (if you live outside of my area, that does not include shipping costs to get to you). This will be open until July 9th.
Do you want to get your hands on all these fun products but don't want to dish out over $100?? Then this sharing club is for you!! Contact me at sacwhite@comcast.net.

Holiday fun

Okay I haven't posted in a week! This combines two challenges for SCS color combo 173 (purely pomegrante, wild wasabi and certainly celery) and last week's sketch 182. This was such a fun sketch, I glad I got to play. I used the stamp set "Life's a breeze".
I used the rest of the in colors as we have just a month left to use them. (sniff, sniff....). But the new ones look fun too. SU Demos got a sneek peek at some new catalog sets yesterday, I placed a big order for my self. I have yet to start my convention swaps, so I looking forward to new rubber to get me started!
We are going to our friends beach house tomorrow to see fireworks, bonfire and good fun~ This card will go on their hostess gift from us.
