Operation write home

Operation write home is a great organization that sends cards to service men and women overseas.  They are hosting a blog hop this weekend, so check it out OWH stars and stamps.  As memorial day approaches,  remember the men and women who served and continue to serve to keep us safe.

They are always in need of cards and card fronts, so it is a great place to send all those cards we make!

Butterfly punch cottage

I was playing around with my new Stampin Up Butterfly punch and flight of butterfly set.  I stamped on cottage wall dsp with rich razzleberry ink then punched it out for a quick card!

411 Peacock

I needed some thank you cards this week, so needed inspiration I went to stamping 411.  I used their sketch challenge to come up with this using Stampin Up's Ronald McDonald house set called very thankful.

I embossed the image on mambo melon cardstock and used embossing folder for Sixxix big shot.

Officially a mom of a teenager!

My son turns 13 today, yikes I officially have a teenager now-let the craziness begin.

My son Quinton loves snowboarding, so I made this card for him yesterday using Stampin Up's extreme snowboarder.    I had some glossy cardstock left over from my motorcycle card I posted for Royal blog tour, so I used that for inspiration and embossed the snowboarder, used some ripped post it notes to block out for snow and just sponged on some color.

He liked it!  Even know it was close to 80 degrees here today.

button beauty

I was making some cards for a friend who is a real estate agent.  I saw in SAB catalog that they used a button for a tree top- too stinkin cute.  I had to do it.

Tropical Party 411

I got my new big shot oval scallop frame die and was excited to see stamping 411 sketch challenge this week had an oval for main image.  So I excited, I played along twice and just flipped the sketch for this first one.

I used same stamp set for both-  from Stampin Up-Tropical party from Summer mini catalog.   I was struggling to figure out what to do for scallop part, what color to use for scallop portion.  I ended up just using the same piece of confetti white and sponging celery classic ink on it then stamped the palm image in old olive- no waste!

Masculine card Stampin Up style

I am doing a masculine card class tomorrow and this is one of the cards using totally tool and wood grain background stamp sets.

Realizing I had a lot of dusty durango on hand in current in colors I decided to use that for my base and color inspiration.
And the old stand by for masculine cards- Lovely as a tree, the inspiration color was to use mellow moss as it will soon be retiring.  I also used my new embossing folder from Summer mini called square lattice on kraft cardstock.

fond farewell flip flop card

Are you ready for summer?  Do you have your sunglasses on for this card?   I got a custom order for some cards and they requested some pre-teen teenage birthday girl cards.  I decided to break out this flip flop template card and use some colors that will be retiring soon.  Green galore and Pink Passion card stock and ink.  I used simply said and celebrate everything (embossed) stamp set and pulled out my crimper too.
I remember when I first started stamping 7 years ago, I used to use bold brights family all the time. Maybe because my kids were 3 and 5.  Now I am more and earth elements girl.  We will have to see with the new color families which way I lean.

teacher appreciation

This is teacher appreciation week and though I showed you some things from my son and elementary level- where the teachers always get recognized.  I wanted to make some cards to thank the teachers at middle school level.  I am sure at HS level it gets less and less, but teachers do so much for our kids.  They work long hours beyond the school day, deal with us crazy parents, unruly kids, the kids with learning disabilities and more.

I made this card using totally tool set (113256 $25.95) and used a new embossing folder for big shot in Summer mini- called square lattice and embossed tin foil.  We will be using this set for my upcoming masculine class 3 for $5 on 5/14 and 5/15 at 10:30 am.

This card is totally cased by amazing Connie Babbert- you can check out her blog.
The teacher appreciation theme for lunch was Hawaiian.  So, I thought it appropriate to use new Summer mini set called Tropical Party.

Stamping with kids

I went into my son's class to make these book marks for mother's day.  I saw the idea on Shelly Hopps blog with tutorial.

I did a close up shot, they could do flower or stamp their mom's initial.
This is a quick and easy card I had them do with large flower punch and ornament punch using up a bunch various green shades of cardstock I have had cut over the last year for classes and such that was left over.

My son also made these shell cards for teacher appreciation this week- he picked the color, used the color wheel, did the stamping and added glitter.  not too shabby (of course I gave him color selection of the retiring colors)
