Friday featured friend

I decided on Fridays to show you some great swaps or projects some of my fellow demos are doing.

Today, I am showing Jen Foley, her blog:http://www.inkspiredcreations.com/. She actually featured one of my swap cards. I am returning the favor, but actually wanted to show you this card she did, featuring a cool technique with markers.

The technique is to take a lighter color marker and dip it into a darker reinker. This gives a two-tone technique she achieved here. My first thought was, will you ruin your markers? And she assured me that it works like a blender pen and you just need to scribble it on the scrap paper until the color returns to normal. This goes in my ever-growing file of things I must try.

recipe book

I created this for creative challenge for our Demo meeting tonight. The challenge was to use Stampin Up book basics- I used the small size.

I borrowed the "in the kitchen" set from my friend Holly to do cards inside. It is 3 x 5 for recipe card size and the small book basic is 5 x 7 1/2. So I stamped two recipes on a 5 x 7 sheet of whisper white. Using the round tab punch I created tabs that I put onto wild wasabi.

I used afternoon tea paper and lovely letters on the front with some chipboard hearts. I used the CAD to punch through everything!
Here's the inside

Love affair with designer paper

I am in love with designer paper. At first, I was a hoarder and afraid to cut into the pretty sheet. Then, it would retire on me and I never used it. Now, I use it all the time. I don't know how I did cards with out it now.

My new personal favorite, afternoon tea from the summer mini. It is gorgeous in groovy guava, chocolate chip, soft sky and wild wasabi. I love any combination with chocolate chip, it's the new black. I might have serious withdrawals when new cattie comes out in August and we have new "in colors".

Anyways, for our demo meeting swap this month the theme was "Mother's day". For lent, I gave up buying new stamps. Thank goodness that's over! But, I do not have any current "mother's day" sentiment stamps.

So, this is what I came up with. I also gave up trying to use stamp-ma-jig.

card recipe:
cs: groovy guava, chocolate chip, very vanilla, afternoon tea dsp
ink: groovy guava, chocolate chip
stamps: wild rose, lovely letters alphabet
access: theater originals ribbon, gold brad

Bday for DH

Hubby's birthday was this weekend. Masculine cards can be tough sometimes, I decided to try using big and little pieces stamp set.

I went to the sketch challenge at scs and played around with it and my cuttlebug. the inside is suppose to be 3 different panels.

Not my favorite card, as Randy for American idol would say "it's just alright, dawg". Wasn't feeling it, but I like the new hodgepodge hardware I used from Spring mini.

I have some new stuff to post tomorrow, for upcoming swap and demo meeting. As well as my samples for upcoming card club.

I hope you all had a great Easter!!!

catching up

I can't believe I haven't posted any new work in almost a week. I spent yesterday busy stamping. I got some good things done, but now today behind on the laundry.

Andrea Walford has a great blog and posted this idea of doing a box of cards with tart and tangy set and summer picnic paper out of Spring mini catalog. I played around with it to get a bunch made for upcoming craft fair. Of course I did not read directions right and was using 6 .5 x 11 piece instead of 6.5 x 11.5. So I wasted 5 pieces of cardstock.

I got the tutorial from Emily, she did it using berry bliss paper. You can check it out here if you want to play along.http://stampingexpressions.blogspot.com/

I plan on doing this as one of the projects for a May class for mother's day and teacher gifts.
Here is my sample using Berry bliss and close up shot of the box to hold the cards.
