spring sanity

Official started my crazy time of the year- baseball season just started, 2 boys means 4 games a week. This is on top of their regular afterschool activities. My youngest just had first communion. And of course I volunteered to run field day and do all the food for 5th grade celebration and make cards for all the teachers for teacher appreciation week. Man, it really cuts into my stamping and blog surfing time!!! Just not enough time in the day anymore.

I shouldn't complain, I got to do a stamp camp speed style (5 projects in under an hour) as I had to get to baseball game, since my husband was traveling. I also have a demo quarterly meeting, which is lots of fun projects and swapping. So, I have been working on my father's day themed swap too!

I do have one card to share with you, that I whipped up quick for 2 birthday parties for 8 and 9 year old boys.
I ended up using pumpkin pie craft ink and then clear embossing. I am not happy with my craft spots I just got, very muddy or black tinge to them. I used my star punch and some designer paer. Tough to see but I used my canvas background stamp on blue bayou base.

Challenges to start creative flow

I mentioned I got a bunch of new stuff- and haven't had a chance to even ink them up. I tried SCS sketch this week (sc173) and Beate's weekend sketch. I am not loving them, but it was fun to play with my new toys!
This was Beate's sketch # 45, it was a pretty simple sketch. I challenged myself to use one of the pretties, I used my pip marker to color it in. I used my polka dot background (love this stamp). I also used "so cool" set and stamped it in craft perfect plum then clear embossed it. I used so retired dsp, it had some of the colors in it I was using. I have so much retired dsp, I was such a hoarder for a period of time. I got the color combo from color wheel. I tried to use photo corners to jazz it up,but it seems to be missing something. However,I can say how much I like using the pretties kit, they color up so easily!!!This one is the scs sketch, I wanted to use my Life's a breeze set with matching wheel. The free wheelin' promo is only good until 4/30. I thought I would use this set more for scrapbooking, but I gave shot at a card. I think I might have reversed the dsp with the wheel portion, but I was just grabbing scraps to play with. I went with jersey shore dsp here, as I thought it looked like bubbles. I don't really love the boat image, might have to change that out for the big tube float.

But it was fun to stamp, after vacation!!!

traveling!!!

hello all,
I was away on a spring trip to San Diego with the family- Zoo, Seaworld, Legoland, Disney. We had a great time and my feet are barking! If I was computer savy I am sure I could have figured out a way to post while I was gone, but alas I am not.
This is a cute little purse we made at a demo meeting using 5 in one template and berry bliss paper and build a brad. It would be a cute party favor or fun to put gift in the cello bag. Remember Mother's day is coming.

This show inside, the cello bag contains M & M's. I got a bunch of new stamps sets I am cutting and mounting. I hope after I catch up on laundry to post some new things.

I hope to catch up on all my blog roll's posts in next few days. I can't wait to see what you have been up to :}

blog candy winner

Congrats to Beth Fox, who was picked randomly by my son who is 8 and her post was number 8.
Beth PM your address to sacwhite@comcast.net , and I will send your blog candy out to you.

This is a card we did at a demo meeting using sticky letters and chunky glitter. If you ever used sticky tape, very similar. It can be a little tricky to work with them, but very cool results. Tip here is to take you backing off first (try it from corner to get it started) then lay it down onto your paper. Then peel red layer off and dump your glitter over it or put your glitter in wide deep container and just scoop your paper in there.

BLOG CANDY ALERT-LAST DAY

I have goodies to give away- today is last day. I will pick winner randomly tonight, leave your stamping/blogging story here:http://kraftinwithkathy.blogspot.com/2008/04/blog-candy.html

Here are three more SAS cards to share with you today :}

This one uses big bold birthday, coluzzle circle template, berry bliss designer paper, a touch of dazzling diamonds on the candle. It probably was the most time consuming as you had to cut out all the cupcake parts

Very simple card using jersey shore paper and happy everything set. Then the boho punch and brad.

This card I cased from SCS too, right down to color scheme. Sorry I don't recall who I stole it from. The stamp set uses big pieces and it's your birthday sets. Big pieces is another great set to use for male cards, but change color scheme and works for females too.

SAS show and tell

Here are two cards we did at Birthday bash SAS on Friday. We did 12 cards, 6 designs covering both girl, boy, adult male, adult female. I totally cased the bug card of SCS, I thought it was a great card to do for SAS, simple to put together. It uses cute as a bug set. I will give credit to the original designer when I post the other cards this week. The other card uses my stand by for male cards bronc buster. I just got the small and large punches and wanted to use them. The paper I sadly got and it retired on me, so I thought I would use it up.
All the images I did were bold images, no coloring in needed.
Don't forget my blog candy- see post below and tell us your stamping and blogging stories. I pick Tuesday 4/15.

Blog candy

It has been one of those crazy weeks. I had a workshop this week, a stamp-a-stack tonight and I am in charge of our school's yard sale this weekend. Of course this is our rain date and of course it suppose to rain. So, it ends up pouring in beginning and then being sunny and almost 70 degrees. Got love NE weather.
Needless to say, I have been really busy with no time to post new stuff or blog surf any of my blog roll friends. I hope to catch up this weekend. I will post pictures of stamp-a-stack cards all birthday themed. SAS are a lot of work, but so worth it to get together with friends and customers to stamp. I usually do this once a quarter. Why birthday, well I started stamping 5 years ago, to celebrate having a birthday bash SAS. Also for you all blog candy. My first, I just started my blog a few months ago and already hit over 5,000! My first was exposed to stamping when I went to a multi-vendor open house and was really intrigued by this woman using pastels chalks on an image. I booked a party in April 2003 and I was hooked. She is now my upline, Erica. I love instant gratification of stamping and giving something I created to others. The best thing about being a demo, is the other woman I meet. I first started blogging, to challenge myself to create almost daily if I could. I never realized what great and creative blogging friends I would meet, learn from and be inspired by their work.

Anyways to enter for blog candy- just post to this entry your first stamping experience and something great you learned from blogging or blog surfing. The winner will be picked randomly on Tuesday April 15th- tax day.

So the winner will get a Wild Wasabi bundle from me, 12 pieces of 6 x 6 designer paper with wasabi in the paper, 5 yards of striped wasabi ribbon, 8 prescored textured wild wasabi cards, and package of SAB rub-ons.

Another Mom-teacher stamp camp project

I finally got around to making one of these carsousel note purse scrapbooks. We will be doing this project at the May 9th Mother-Teacher gift stamp camp. I think I could have done some more embellishments on outside of purse, but put down my designer paper first. I then realized it would go through the envelope it I used more hodgepodge hardware. I just got my pretties kit, so I probaby will add a flower somewhere.
If you want to do your own this idea came from Jan Tinkelberg. If you haven't checked out her blog, she is very creative as well as very funny. Her tutorial is here:http://stampspaperscissors.typepad.com/stamps_paper_scissors/2008/03/the-carousel-no.html

Sweeter than apple pie?

I was trying to come up with another project for an upcoming Mother's day/teacher gift class I am doing on May 9th.

I decided to use the chipboard frame idea and had this fun shot of my two goof balls at Pawtucket Red Sox game last summer. Since baseball is as American as apple pie, I borrowed this set from my upline.
Only a face(s) a mother could love!!! Okay, maybe Nana who will be getting this one.

Hunter

One of my hostesses just had her second baby about a week ago. I made this for her using a simply scrappin kit from Fall Winter cattie- creative license. I also used a retired alpha set and stamped in craft ink. Can you tell how much I love these kits??? There is also some hodgepodge hardware and large and small star punches. Sorry about crooked photo- oops.
I am getting close 5,000 hits. Stay posted for upcoming blog candy next week.

Featured Friend Friday

This was done by my fabulous upline and friend Erica. She is wonderfully supportive with inspiration, letting me borrow supplies, gives me feedback on projects and sends me RAKs. She is one of the best scrapbooker I know (Debby sbs8 rocks too), and she did this as one of our demo challenges using:
SU large chipboard book basics, simply scrappin crew kids girl kit, Cherished memories rub ons, some new hodgepodge hardware and wild wasabi striped ribbon. The flower was stamped from Ginormous flowers set.
If you have not tried using the simply scrappin kit, you need to do so. There are so many things you can do from cards, to art, to scrapbook pages and you will still have tons of stuff left over.
BTW- she does not have her own blog, sorry.....

another card club card

Sometimes I forget that the Stampin Up catalog is also an idea book too. For this card, I cased a design on page 108 using "so kind" set. I changed it up and used the "one of kind set" and build a brad vs. the pearl. This card was focused on featuring the build-a-brad set. They are so fun to make if you haven't tried yet.

April Fools Day

Wow, April 1st- April Fools day. No pranks to pull, but news to share. I will have officially been stamping for 5 years this week. I also looked down at my blog counter and I am close to 5,000 hits! So to celebrate both occasions, I am going to come up with some blog candy to share next week. Stay tuned.....

Today, I have two cards to share that we are doing for April card club tomorrow night. The class is focus on using embellishments.

1) uses carousel notes- I got idea from Patty Bennett to use lucky star accent and elements. My sample pretty much cases one of hers. I am going to give each them a sheet from the tin and be creative on their own.

2) chipboard- I am showing different ways to cover it. We are using designer paper, craft ink and glitter. I used tres chic background stamp and afternoon tea designer paper (my new personal fav)
