my favorite things

My SBS #24 had a challenge this week to make a card using your favorite things.

It was tough to pick a favorite set, however I picked up "doodle this" which I have not used in almost a year, but I love the swirly images.

Some of my favorite things I used on this card:

1) doodle this and define your life stamp sets

2) Chocolate chip color- it goes with everything, it's the new black.

3) embossing- I used cc craft ink with clear embossing poweder on Chocolate and clear embossed on pirouette pink

4) build a brad- so much fun to make them

5) ticket corner punch, best $5.95 I ever spent!

6) I also water colored the flower with my aquapainter by pushing top of pirouette pink pad down.

7) pirouette pink is my favorite new in color and I am not a "pink" gal.

The only thing I could not get on there was designer paper!

Finally, this card is going to my BFF Michele for her birthday next week.

big shot swap

I am in a swap for the big shot. In the rush to get them out on time, I forgot to snap a shot of my finished product. This is one of my rejects- using velvet, the brad feet shows through the material unlike card stock. I also did not get it layed down flat with the tacky glue.

I was trying to show the versatility of all the materials you can die cut with big shot machine. Trial and error working with new materials.

I did a technique called velvet embossing and have a little tutorial for you.

step 1- lie the velvet side down on top of rubber stamp image.

step 2- mist lightly the back of velvet with water spray bottle.

step 3: using an iron (no steam!) on cotton setting. Press for 20 seconds firmly - do not rock your iron but use firm pressure.

Your final image will look debossed from the rubber stamp image.

Card for Robin

I just got a new recruit, so I wanted to send her a card to congratulate her for becoming an SU demo. I had scraps of Washington apple dsp, so I checked out SCS sketch challenge.

recipe:

cs: bashful blue, pumpkin pie, ww, Washington Apple dsp

stamps: say it with scallops, eastern blooms

ink: riding hood red, pumpkin pie and SU markers

access: designer buttons, square scallop punch, sponge

Bags and tags class

I had a bags and tags class last week and last night. I did not take photos of all ones made. I grabbed photos of what Lois and my upline Erica did. This one is just a covered lunch bag. The dimesions for the dsp is 5 1/4 x 8 for front panel then 12 x 5 1/4 for back panel that fold over.

These are the bags they showed at convention. 2 pieces of 12 x 12 dsp, score 3 " on 3 sides. I just also had them score the top at 2 " to reinforce top of the bag.

This is a take on the SU gift sack we covered at convention using inspired by nature set.

The one on the right is just a version of 2-5-7-10 made out of Washington apple designer paper.

Happy Fall Y'all

Happy First Day of Fall, so sad I love summer!

However, I do enjoy sweater weather, changing of the leaves, pumpkins, apple picking and more fall fun.

I thought I would share one of the decor elements I used on my glass door pane. I actually did in on the inside (good thing my name begins with W, easily reversed). You can do it on the outside and have no problems with the elements. I chose the inside as it was a lot cleaner and easier for the application.

I took the photo while my new mums are still alive. I never have much luck with plants, but the man at the nursery said to water it daily as mums love their water. We'll see if they make it to Halloween.

Candlelight switch

A quick one today, this is for Beate's weekend sketch. I had a busy day with one son's football game this morning and another doing a kick-a-thon for Cancer for Karate, mid-afternoon.

Between laundry and grocery shopping, I went up to my craft room to play. This is a new set for me Autumn Harvest. I got it to replace one of my favorites-carved and candlelight, which retired. (I sold it to my good friend Holly, so she could enjoy it)

This is the new Halloween paper, basic gray cs. I used the basic gray ink and my watercolor crayons. I don't have any Halloween sentiment stamps, so I punched this out from the designer paper with my 3/4 " circle punch.

card slump

I was trying to complete two challenges on demo challenge forum this week.

1) to use a new stamp set for demonstrable card- snow swirled

2) for workshop wow, to go back and use the original 48 colors in SU color palette. (here bravo burgundy and always artichoke)

For me, I wanted to try to make an easy card to use for upcoming Holiday Stamp-a-Stack. This was easy, but I think it needs some more bling somewhere, perhaps some dazzling diamonds? Or maybe just some gold brads on starburst?

Feedback???
