my favorite things

My SBS #24 had a challenge this week to make a card using your favorite things.

It was tough to pick a favorite set, however I picked up "doodle this" which I have not used in almost a year, but I love the swirly images.

Some of my favorite things I used on this card:

1) doodle this and define your life stamp sets

2) Chocolate chip color- it goes with everything, it's the new black.

3) embossing- I used cc craft ink with clear embossing poweder on Chocolate and clear embossed on pirouette pink

4) build a brad- so much fun to make them

5) ticket corner punch, best $5.95 I ever spent!

6) I also water colored the flower with my aquapainter by pushing top of pirouette pink pad down.

7) pirouette pink is my favorite new in color and I am not a "pink" gal.

The only thing I could not get on there was designer paper!

Finally, this card is going to my BFF Michele for her birthday next week.

big shot swap

I am in a swap for the big shot. In the rush to get them out on time, I forgot to snap a shot of my finished product. This is one of my rejects- using velvet, the brad feet shows through the material unlike card stock. I also did not get it layed down flat with the tacky glue.

I was trying to show the versatility of all the materials you can die cut with big shot machine. Trial and error working with new materials.

I did a technique called velvet embossing and have a little tutorial for you.

step 1- lie the velvet side down on top of rubber stamp image.

step 2- mist lightly the back of velvet with water spray bottle.

step 3: using an iron (no steam!) on cotton setting. Press for 20 seconds firmly - do not rock your iron but use firm pressure.

Your final image will look debossed from the rubber stamp image.

Card for Robin

I just got a new recruit, so I wanted to send her a card to congratulate her for becoming an SU demo. I had scraps of Washington apple dsp, so I checked out SCS sketch challenge.

recipe:

cs: bashful blue, pumpkin pie, ww, Washington Apple dsp

stamps: say it with scallops, eastern blooms

ink: riding hood red, pumpkin pie and SU markers

access: designer buttons, square scallop punch, sponge

Bags and tags class

I had a bags and tags class last week and last night. I did not take photos of all ones made. I grabbed photos of what Lois and my upline Erica did. This one is just a covered lunch bag. The dimesions for the dsp is 5 1/4 x 8 for front panel then 12 x 5 1/4 for back panel that fold over.

These are the bags they showed at convention. 2 pieces of 12 x 12 dsp, score 3 " on 3 sides. I just also had them score the top at 2 " to reinforce top of the bag.

This is a take on the SU gift sack we covered at convention using inspired by nature set.

The one on the right is just a version of 2-5-7-10 made out of Washington apple designer paper.

Happy Fall Y'all

Happy First Day of Fall, so sad I love summer!

However, I do enjoy sweater weather, changing of the leaves, pumpkins, apple picking and more fall fun.

I thought I would share one of the decor elements I used on my glass door pane. I actually did in on the inside (good thing my name begins with W, easily reversed). You can do it on the outside and have no problems with the elements. I chose the inside as it was a lot cleaner and easier for the application.

I took the photo while my new mums are still alive. I never have much luck with plants, but the man at the nursery said to water it daily as mums love their water. We'll see if they make it to Halloween.

Candlelight switch

A quick one today, this is for Beate's weekend sketch. I had a busy day with one son's football game this morning and another doing a kick-a-thon for Cancer for Karate, mid-afternoon.

Between laundry and grocery shopping, I went up to my craft room to play. This is a new set for me Autumn Harvest. I got it to replace one of my favorites-carved and candlelight, which retired. (I sold it to my good friend Holly, so she could enjoy it)

This is the new Halloween paper, basic gray cs. I used the basic gray ink and my watercolor crayons. I don't have any Halloween sentiment stamps, so I punched this out from the designer paper with my 3/4 " circle punch.

card slump

I was trying to complete two challenges on demo challenge forum this week.

1) to use a new stamp set for demonstrable card- snow swirled

2) for workshop wow, to go back and use the original 48 colors in SU color palette. (here bravo burgundy and always artichoke)

For me, I wanted to try to make an easy card to use for upcoming Holiday Stamp-a-Stack. This was easy, but I think it needs some more bling somewhere, perhaps some dazzling diamonds? Or maybe just some gold brads on starburst?

Feedback???

zoo much fun

Another scrapbook page to share with you. My white gel pens were dead, so I could not journal.
This uses zoofari set, a set I at first was like "who would want that?", now I use it all the time.
This is still from our April trip to San Diego. I got a lot of great shots from bus tour and my zoom lens.

Demo Up

Okay, I finally got around to doing one of my goals- doing some of the demo challenges on SCS. This one was super easy, so no reason not to play.

This is based off Diane Gibbs tutorial of covering a kit kat bar. All you do is take a 6 x 6 piece of designer paper and seal it around the kit kat bar and at both ends, then you run it through the crimper. Then you add a belly band and voila fun candy wrapper. I finally got my ghostly greetings dsp on Friday, so that is paper I used. I embossed the scull from batty for you.

Cardinal Christmas

This was for Beate's weekend sketch! I just got this set from Winter mini, the only set I really loved.

I also tried embossing using classic ink, if you dump clear e.p. quickly on classic you can get it to adhere to emboss. You have to be quick though because classic dries almost on contact. I haven't ordered any Christmas paper yet, alas SU is going to make me broke! I am loving the new taffeta ribbons in riding hood red and kiw- gorgeous!

Oh Baby

Our friends had their 3rd child (10 years since their last one). I was going to be in their town on Thursday so being short on time- I needed a quick card.

This is the baby onesie card that Laura M came up with. If you never have done one she has the tutorial on her blog here. It only takes about 10 minutes to do and is super cute!

I used eyelets vs. brads for snaps because I bought them and hoarded them, and then SU retired them. So better use them up now!

I also, made them some baby thank you cards to go with the super cute outfits I bought baby Nora. (don't you just love the outfits they have for babies???)

Again, short on time- made these up at football practice, a little crooked in my assembly on a clipboard.

I apologize for grainy scan- I think I have some residue glitter on my scanner. I did not have time to clean it off as I was scanning and running out the door!

However, I did create the cute kid in the photos.

Tough to see, but she also had this cool tape runner that put down stitches, almost like the stitches in baseball.

So, I caught up on some scrapbook pages I did at my upline's house. (all her designs, I just copy). Of course, I do these pages and then never get around to putting photos or journaling. I don't recommend this approach, journaling is important! With kiddies back in school, I have more time to catch up on these things.

This one is right out of the last catalog, just changed up color scheme to better suit a boy page. This was at Lego land in San Diego.

We went in April and now I am doing photos!!!

It uses So much set, a free set I got at regionals and never used it that much. Also features the chipboard (traced onto dsp, hoarder....) and the arrow punch.

Bear for Beate

Yeah Beate is back, I wasn't able with holiday weekend to do her sketch challenge. However, I got back from Tami White's Demo extravaganza featuring Glenda Travelstead, (got great info and make and takes btw) and my husband and boys were still out. So, I quickly went up to my stamp room and had time to play with her sketch.

This is a set on special this month for 15 % off. I have been wanting to ink this set up, so I was glad I had a challenge to get mojo going. I also was inspired to try watercoloring with markers mentioned at event today. If you never have done it-sooo easy. Just scribble your markers onto your stamp case and pick up with aquapainter.

I did flip the side layer to left side vs. right side because I wanted to have the bear spray the mosquito's and not his armpit.

CD creation

I made this based on a project we got for UStamp. In the sample they used summer picnic dsp and tart & tangy stamp set.

This is urban garden, one of my new favorite dsp in Fall-Winter IBC. I used inspired by nature set.

Cardstock base and ink color is not quite navy.

This is inside of cd holder, I just used whisper white craft to stamp inside.

Birthday thanks re-do

Okay, this is my second attempt at this set, much happier this go around. I am using it for a swap this weekend.

1) I stamped the image on pirouette pink and baja blue, then just did the cherry portion onto ruby red cardstock

2) I cut the pieces out- baja for bottom and pink for top.

3) I used my markers (pumpkin, ruby red and old olive) to color in sprinkles. I added crystal effects on top.

4) for the cherry, I used dazzling diamonds with two way glue and colored stem with choc. chip marker

5) I assembled, I used dimensionals for frosting and cherry portion.

birthday thanks

Quick post- I needed to make some birthday thank you cards for my son' s party.

I am not that happy with my outcome, I tried to watercolor with blender pens and ink pads. It looked so much better in my mind.

But will do for 8-9 y.o boys ripping it open and putting into trash can.

I came up with better design paper piecing it for a swap for a event this weekend. I hope to post that tomorrow.

We had a busy holiday weekend, so no time to post. I do have some thank you cards I made for customers that placed an order at my open house. I was playing around with so many scallops set and also some of the pretties. I recently did an embellishment share, and these customers were still unsure about how to use them all.

I honestly can say, I am not a pink girl. The only pink I have in my wardrobe is my pink red sox hat.

However, I am really loving this new pirouette pink in the new in colors. And what does not go with chocolate chip??? This one I just took the prettie (silk flower) and smooshed it in my pirouette pink ink pad with my bone folder. I let dry over night (but you can use your heat gun if you are impatient). Pretties can be a little tricky to adhere, so I just used a rhinestone brad that comes with the kit and pierced it through the ribbon.

This is one I stepped it up a little and used the hat pin and some more beads!
